Anca Irinciuc is a Romanian visual artist whose work centers on ballpoint pen drawing.
Her practice is built around repetition, introspection, and the emotional tension carried by the human figure. Through slow and carefully layered marks, she creates drawings that explore vulnerability, silence, memory, and inner states.
Working exclusively with blue ballpoint pen, she is interested in the relationship between limitation, discipline, and emotional presence.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I draw with blue ballpoint pen as a way of slowing down and observing emotional states that are often difficult to express in words.
Through repetition and layered marks, the drawings become spaces where vulnerability, tension, silence, and introspection can exist at the same time. The human figure appears frequently in my work, not as a portrait of someone specific, but as a reflection of fragile inner experiences.
I am interested in the emotional weight carried by simple gestures, in the relationship between control and instability, and in the way repetition slowly transforms both the image and the person creating it.
Using a single medium allows me to focus on presence, rhythm, and the quiet intensity that can emerge from restraint.
